Marbled Journal - Suminagashi

$47.00 USD
2 in stock

This hard-back journal is made with original hand-marbled half-linen bookcloth. The bookcloth was marbled using the oldest form of marbling, the beautiful Japanese art of suminagashi. This technique uses plain water as the 'canvas', whose currents twist and shape the floating ink to give it a distinctively fluid, smokey look.

All MarMor's marbled papers and books are carefully handmade in their London studio.

These one-of-a-kind journals make a striking, original gift for list-makers, artists and bullet journalers.

Enhance the personal touch by opting to add a bespoke engraved monogram or name. We will use gold foil to highlight your initials.

Durability

MarMor uses acrylic paint for its durability and brightness. The paint won’t rub off or dissolve but, because they don't use mass-manufacturing treatments, the papers are not coated. MarMor recommends keeping notebooks away from water where possible to avoid warping or bubbling.

Materials & Dimensions

Each book contains 240 pages (120 leaves), made from lovely ivory-toned Italian paper, with subtle narrow lines.

MarMor Paperie

Marmor Paperie was launched in 2015 with the aim of breathing new life into the art of paper marbling. Seeing shops saturated with mass-produced products, Marmor wanted to herald a return to quality workmanship and give people back the joy of owning something truly special.

Paper marbling is an old and beautiful technique. Marmor uses bold, fresh colors and fluid patterns to add a contemporary character. Every marbled paper is different, so each book made from them is a unique piece.
